Then, after the ceremony, students will have a parade down Rita Road to Purple Heart Park to picnic and celebrate this awesome accomplishment. The parade will start at 10:45 a.m.

Earlier this fall, the U.S. Department of Education selected Mesquite as an Exemplary High Performing School. The awards were based on each school’s overall academic excellence or progress in improving student academic achievement.

“I am truly once again humbled by the commitment to excellence of Mesquite staff, the support of our families and community, and the work of our students in pursuit of academic excellence,” said Superintendent Calvin Baker.

Mesquite, honored last month in Washington, D.C., was one of only four Arizona schools recognized as a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School.
