The National Hispanic Recognition Program, administered by the College Board, recognized six academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students across Mesa Public Schools.

Only 5,000 high school students are selected nationwide for this important recognition, while more than 250,000 enter the program. Selection is based on their performance on the PSAT test and cumulative grade point average.

The district’s National Hispanic Scholars are: Andrew Martinez, Dobson High; Rick Hewitt, Dobson High; Janet Gutierrez, Red Mountain High; Andrew Medina, Skyline High; Jessica Tanner, Skyline High; and Alex Schreck, Westwood High.

The district will recognize these seniors at the Nov.18 board meeting for their commitment to education and achievement.
