Twenty-eight Mesa Community College (MCC) student-athletes earn All-Academic honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
With only ten of the 18 MCC squads eligible to be considered under NJCAA regulations for the 2020-21 year, four complete teams earned the recognition. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some MCC athletic teams did not compete during the 2020-21 season.
“We are proud of the amazing work of our student-athletes during what was an unusually difficult year,” said John Mulhern, MCC Athletic director. “Excelling both on the field or court and in the classroom is not easy but our athletes remain dedicated to their studies year after year.”
In order to qualify for the list, athletes must have at least a 3.60 GPA during the previous year. Those with 4.00 averages earn First Team recognition. Anyone with a 3.80-3.99 average is listed on the Second Team and those with 3.60-3.79 GPAs are Third Team.
Since the 2011-12 academic year 265 MCC student athletes have earned All-Academic honors from the NJCAA.
