Kyrene School District offers COVID-19 rapid testing for employees

Kyrene School District is now offering COVID-19 rapid testing for Kyrene employees.
The testing clinic is the latest strategy in Kyrene’s ongoing efforts to ensure a safe environment for working and learning.
Beginning Wednesday, January 27, the District will provide rapid testing for employees only (no family members and no students at this time), at a centralized location.
Kyrene employees who are ill or who have been exposed to an individual with COVID-19 will be able to access rapid testing every afternoon, five days a week.
Employees will receive results in 15 minutes. Rapid testing is an effective tool to identify illness and help keep it out of classrooms and schools.
“Kyrene School District has been relentless in seeking out opportunities to keep our staff and students safe, from HEPA filtration systems in every classroom to strict contact tracing and quarantine protocols,” said Kyrene Superintendent Laura Toenjes. “This new rapid testing option is one more layer to help protect our essential workers and to re-open our classrooms to in-person learners, once teachers have had the opportunity to be fully vaccinated.”
Rapid testing in Kyrene is made possible with the help of the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, at no cost to the District.
