Kiva Elementary School 5th grade students will participate in Toastmaster Speak Off at 9 a.m. Friday, April 4,  at the school at 6911 E. McDonald Drive in Paradise Valley.

Kiva Elementary School 5th grade students, 5th grade teacher Karen Brisbane and Toastmaster Mike DiCerbo will take part in this event.

For the past 10 years, Toastmaster Mike DiCerbo has been volunteering his time to teach Kiva’s 5th grade students Public Speaking Skills. All students must write a speech and present it in front of their peers.

Following their presentation, students receive feedback on their performance. Mr. DiCerbo selects the top four speakers from each of the three 5th grade classrooms and also three Toastmasters to introduce the speakers.

Students have found this to be a valuable learning experience.
