Students enrolled in the Pima County JTED Heavy Equipment Operations program are using dozers, skidsteers, backhoes, and various other pieces of machinery to prepare construction sites and parking lots.

In addition to attending class for four hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the students spend eight hours two Saturdays per month in the field.

We caught up with Jennifer Pelayo, a student at STAR Academic Center, and a few of her classmates at the University of Arizona San Xavier Mine as they gained hands-on-experience that is clearing the way for them to succeed in their career choices.
