State Superintendent John Huppenthal recognized Rio Rico High School students Areana Villaescusa, Martin Fernandez, Carlos Apodaca and Sergio Delgado for saving the life of wrestling coach Fernando Villaescusa, who is Areana’s father.
Fernandez and Villaescusa (in scrubs) learned CPR in JTED’s Certified Nursing Assistant Program, Delgado (not in photo)gained his skills in the JTED Sports Medicine Program, and Apodaca learned CPR as a member of the wrestling team.
Mr. Villaescusa suffered several heart attacks while traveling with the students, they recognized the symptoms, pulled-off the road, and performed CPR until firefighter/paramedics arrived.
