Principals, district leaders, colleagues and families came together Thursday, April 28, to honor the 2017 Teachers of the Year in the Higley Unified School District.
The 14 teachers from the Gilbert and Queen Creek campuses that make up the district were celebrated and recognized for their abilities to connect, engage and inspire students.
The evening’s event, held at the DoubleTree San Tan Elegante, was sponsored by business and community partners. It included the award-winning Higley Jr. Air Force ROTC and musicians from both Higley and Williams Field High Schools.
Video production students from Williams Field High School, under the direction of Jason Karcher, produced a video highlighting the work of each of the teachers as told through their students and principals.
At the conclusion of the event, San Tan Elementary School music teacher Thomas Murphy was announced as the 2017 Higley Unified School District Teacher of the Year. Mr. Murphy and all the school Teachers of the Year can apply to the Arizona Education Foundation’s Arizona 2017 Teacher of the Year program.
Congratulations to all the 2017 Higley Unified School District Teachers of the Year.
