The Lady Knights of Higley High rallied again recently to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Surrounding their coach and cancer survivor Patti Smith, Higley High varsity softball players and two student-athletes from feeder school Sossaman Middle School walked in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer event.

The student-athletes collected more than $1,800.

“Last year many of the girls walked with me in the Susan G. Komen and this year we choose the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer walk. It was a lot of fun and I love that we had Lady Knights from the past – my daughter who graduated in 2010 – seven current Knights and two future Knights on the team,” Higley High’s Patti Smith said. “I am so grateful for the support they’ve given and hope we continue to keep this tradition.”
