Higley schools host performances

The talented thespians and musicians in the Higley Unified School District will put their talent on stage this week in performances at both high schools.

Williams Field High School will present the Hans Christian Andersen inspired “Honk!” 7 p.m. Feb. 27-28 and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 1. The musical retelling of the Ugly Duckling story includes fun, inspiring songs and a story appropriate for all ages. Tickets: $8 adults; $5 students. They are available at the auditorium door, 2076 S. Higley Road, Gilbert.

Higley High School’s band and orchestra will perform 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts, 4132 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert. The concert is free and open to the public.

Color guard and drum lines groups from across the Valley will compete in the Winter Guard Arizona Cooley Show on Friday, Feb. 28. The competition begins at 6 p.m. Friday at Williams Field High School, .2076 S. Higley Road. Entrance fee for the show is $7 for adults, $5 for students age 6-12, and children 5 and under are free.

The bands from Williams Field High, Cooley Middle School and Higley Traditional Academy Band Concert will join together for a performance at Williams Field High School, 2076 S. Higley Road, 6 p.m. March 6. Carrabbas Italian Grill will cater the event. Meal tickets are available for $15. Contact the school’s music department for information.

Sossaman Middle School’s band and orchestra will perform during a Dessert Concert 6 p.m. March 4 at the school, 18655 E. Jacaranda Blvd., Queen Creek. The orchestra will take the stage at 6 p.m. while the bands begin at 6:30 p.m. Desserts will be sold to help raise funds for the school’s music department.
