The Higley Achievement Foundation (HAF) recently awarded 33 Gail Stapleton Mini-Grants at six Higley campuses for $9,100. The mini-grants can be used for any project directly related to student learning. This year’s recipients received grants up to $300 each.

Each year the foundation collects teacher and staff voluntary payroll deductions of $1-$2 per pay period to fund the grants. Automatic deductions are set up through HUSD Payroll.

The foundation funds a number of initiatives in the district, including student scholarships, employee health incentives and the mini grants.

In the spring, HAF presented $15,000 to seven Class of 2019 recipients of the new Mary Buscema College and Career Ready Scholarships and $17,000 from the Ken Vandehei Memorial Scholarship fund to five Class of 2019 recipients.

Funding for these scholarships comes from the HAF’s annual Monte Carlo night, scheduled for November 22 at the DoubleTree SanTan Elegante, and the Ken Vandehei Memorial Golf Tournament, coming September 21st at Las Colinas Golf Course.

The Higley Achievement Foundation is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting Higley schools, staff and students.
