Gov. Ducey declares May 1 as School Lunch Hero Day

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey issued a proclamation today that May 1, 2020 is School Lunch Hero Day.

The proclamation notes that nutritious school meals are essential for the health and well-being of Arizona children, and that Arizona school nutrition professionals are committed to providing healthy, nutritious meals for Arizona children daily.

Arizona school nutrition professionals are taked with adhering to nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, following strict food safety protocols and providing nutrition education, and offering service with a smile.

Hardworking Arizona school nutrition professionals prepare and serve more than 169 million school meals, and continue to serve an unprecndented number of school meals to help keep our children fed during this time when schools are closed.
