Fuller Elementary in Tempe named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School

U.S. Secretary of Education, John B. King, Jr., announced today that Fuller Elementary School has been named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School.

Fuller is among 279 public and 50 private schools receiving this honor.

National Blue Ribbon Schools are public and non-public elementary, middle, and high schools that are producing outstanding results for all students.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools recognition program is part of a larger U. S. Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about effective school leadership and promising instructional practices.

Fuller Elementary was one of five outstanding public schools that Arizona nominated for an “Exemplary High Performing Schools” performance award.

Fuller became eligible for this award by being among the top 15 percent of schools in the state when ranked on the performance of all students who participated in the most recently administered state assessments in reading (or English language arts) and mathematics.

The staff of Fuller Elementary continually collaborates to create an environment where children are respected, challenged and experience quality learning at their own instructional levels.

Teachers work continuously in a trusting, professional environment to help every child exceed beyond their learning goals. Students understand their learning goals and strive to meet their goals with lessons designed for their own learning. At Fuller, “Excellence is the Expectation.”

Fuller Elementary School is a K-5 school in Tempe, Arizona, and is part of the Tempe Elementary School District.

It is a Title I school, and serves 668 students. Since opening its doors in 1977, the Fuller community has referred to the school as joining the “Fuller Family”.

Its reputation of strong relationships is shared among staff, students, parents and community members, and is one of the many endearing qualities of Fuller Elementary.
