North Country Healthcare’s Medical Mobile Unit (NCHC/MMU) is excited to be in its second year working with Flagstaff Unified School District to provide onsite health care services to students and staff.
North Country Healthcare’s Medical Mobile Unit mission is to provide convenient, accessible, quality student-based healthcare services with the goal of reducing school absences and promoting healthy behaviors.
In Connecticut, 96.7 percent of students using school-based centers return to class the same day, (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. 2013-03-27).
In a study of youth in the San Francisco Unified School District, results suggest students’ use of SBHC’s is associated with positive academic outcomes, particularly through the students’ self-reported perceptions of school assets and having a caring relationship with an adult SBHC employee, (Journal of Adolescent Health 53 (4): 526–532).
NCHC’s MMU will work with your FUSD school nurse to ensure your student is immunized and well. Their services are not intended to replace your students established primary care provider, but rather assist them if they are not able to be seen that day by their primary physician.
If your child needs to establish a new primary care provider, the MMU would be more than happy to assist you.
The NCHC MMU is open Monday-Friday for all FUSD students. For more information on locations, hours of operations, or for any questions please contact the MMU directly Monday-Friday at 928-522-9406, online at northcountryhealthcare.org, or contact your school nurse.
