Coronado Elementary School will offer a Mandarin immersion program next school year for students in grades kindergarten and first grade.
Research shows children who start learning a second language at a young age have a higher proficiency in the immersion language, perform equal or greater to their peers in regular classrooms on standardized English tests and show greater cognitive flexibility and increased attention control.
The Coronado program is open to students in and out of Higley’s borders.
