Tina Peng, a Flinn Scholar from Chandler Prep, a Great Hearts Academies School plans to attend Arizona State University and double major in computer science and mathematics and potentially studio art – another passion.
“Mathematics is the way in which I comprehend the world around me; it is my passion and my reason,” Peng said.
“I believe computer science is the most versatile tool with which I can apply mathematics,” Peng said. “Of course, I also think that it is the fundamental skill of modern technology, science, and engineering.”
Peng said her parents supported her decision to apply for the Flinn Scholarship, which will provide her with plentiful resources and guidance.
“I plan on attaining my Ph. D. in mathematics, majors in Computer Science as well as maintain my dance and studio art careers,” Peng said.
“All of these ambitions require support and long-term investment,” Peng said. “The Flinn Foundation has given me such tools necessary to start off my intellectual and artistic endeavors.”
After earning her bachelor’s degree, Peng said she hopes “to go to China and earn my master’s in Chinese traditional dance; afterwards, I will come back to America to finish my graduate degree.”
Eventually, Peng said she plans to live in France “to train in classical studio techniques and focus on computer art and animation.”
