The Cartwright School District is proud to announce that we have a new Interim Superintendent, Dr. LeeAnn Aguilar Lawlor.

Dr. Lawlor’s tenure as Interim Superintendent took effect after our Governing Board voted to put her in charge of the district on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.

Outgoing Superintendent Dr. Jacob A. Chavez announced he was no longer seeking additional time on his contract and wanted to focus more on his family.

Dr. Lawlor thanked Administrators and support staff for helping her through the transition. She was previously the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services at Cartwright.

Here is a link to her bio:

In her first message delivered to employees this week Dr. Lawlor said, “What it means to be an excelling school district is to work together to lift our kids out of mediocrity, to exalt them through our wonderful programs so that they compete not just with students in Arizona, not just with students in our nation, but globally. Many of our students are bilingual and incredibly gifted. All have much to offer society.”

“I cannot do this alone. As you know, the needs of our students today are complex. I know we will succeed if we do it collectively, one team, una familia,” Dr. Lawlor said.

“My first order of business is to conduct listening tours throughout our entire community. I believe that unity will continue to strengthen our district. Division will weaken us,” Dr. Lawlor said. “I will listen to everyone; teachers, classified, parents, students and administrators because all of you are important and all of you matter to me.”
