Camelback students shine at DECA conference

The DECA State Career Development Conference took place March 1-3 at the Phoenix Civic Center with 2300 students, representing 67 Arizona high schools in attendance. 

Thirteen Camelback students qualified for the DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta in May, the largest group the school has ever taken to that competition. 

First place winners were Lilianna Martinez and Vanessa Lucero in the Entrepreneurship Promotional Project and Ana Craft for Public Relation Project. 

Second place finishers were Alexis Serafin and  Benjamin Jaimes for Business Research in  Hospitality in Entrepreneurship Innovative Plan.  Second place also went to Alondra Guevara, Maria Arroyo and Gloria Carrera in Business Research Sports and Entertainment, and JoAnna Estrella and Frida Cuellar, 2nd in Business Research in Finance. 

Third place winners were Dakota Thompson and Exikia Avelar -Public Relation Project and Cinnamon Mazone – Business Research in Hospitality. 

The students will join 15,000 others at the International Event, May 2-7.
