The School Superintendent’s Association (AASA) has the opportunity to send three superintendents on the annual Lifetouch Memory Mission.

Buckeye Elementary School District Superintendent Dr. Kristi Sandvik was offered the opportunity to attend the 2019 trip.

Dr. Sandvik will join the 2019 Lifetouch Memory Mission in Juncos, Puerto Rico to help in a school community that was impacted by Hurricane Maria.

Lifetouch Memory Missions is covering the costs for the mission.

Dr. Sandvik is beyond excited to be part of such an amazing group of volunteers.

“I have talked to many people who have returned from the previous missions, who have reflected upon the life changing experience, and I cannot wait to share it with my community. I am thrilled to be able to even do Facebook live videos, on location, to loop in the Buckeye school community with the school that I’ll be working with, Colegio Bautista in Juncos, Puerto Rico.”

Since the inception of the Lifetouch Memory Missions in 2000, volunteers have traveled to destinations around the world to spend a week in intensive volunteer service.

The missions have helped rebuild a village in war-ravaged Kosovo, repaired homes in Appalachia, established a children’s center in Jamaica, extended outreach in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina and constructed a bridge in the land of the Navajo people, in Arizona. Volunteers have also built over sixteen schools across Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Sandvik is one of only three superintendents in the nation who have been hand-picked to support the cause. For those interested in supporting her efforts, she has started a First Giving Page for fundraising efforts. All contributions will go directly to support the school for supplies, building costs, and other school related items.

The funds in no way support Dr. Sandvik’s travel or related expenses.

A special thanks also goes to Chasse Building Team, who will match every dollar donated
