Approximately 2 % of Arizona elementary school students participate in Theatre and Dance. Many of these programs are only offered to those lucky enough to afford them.
The Black Mountain Elementary School (BMES) community believes that their students are special and deserve the very best. BMES believes that we must develop the whole child, through advanced academics and the Arts. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Konerko Foundation, Black Mountain students can now be counted as one of the select few.
Theatre is a great way to learn the English Language Arts communications standards and to build 21st Century Skills. The 4 Cs (Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication and Collaboration) are vital for our students in the 21st Century. Our students will be community minded and globally prepared due in large part to the amazing programs that we have built and the addition of our Drama program. This stage will help prepare them for the day when “all the world’s a stage”.
Black Mountain students will also participate in Dance beginning in August of the 2016-2017 school year. Dance provides a fun opportunity for physical fitness, enhances cultural understanding, develops nonverbal communication skills, and cultivates creativity and critical thinking skills. Matt Owsley, Black Mountain Elementary School’s principal, proudly stated that the continued expansion of our Arts programs speaks to our dedication to providing a uniquely exceptional experience that focuses on the development of the whole child.
Anyone interested in having their children participate in Drama and Dance should contact Black Mountain’s proud principal, Mr. Matt Owsley, at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a tour and ask questions about the amazing offerings. Enrollment packets can be found at https://is.gd/81PZfr and are now being accepted.
