State request to switch student tests granted by feds

Students in Montana can say farewell to the old state standardized test. The U.S. Department of Education granted the state superintendent’s request to waive a federal requirement and instead take the new computer-based Smarter Balanced exam, which measures proficiency under Common Core standards.
