As migrant farm workers settle in Oregon, stability boosts their children’s education

Before 1994, migrant children qualified for help if they changed school districts once every six years, but now it’s once every three years. But migration in Oregon has changed. Berta Lule, a bilingual instructional coach atHillsboro School District, recalls seeing fewer migrant students on her class list throughout the years. Some families are just traveling less frequently, she said.
