The Dysart Unified School District and The Vista Center for the Arts are seeking artists in partnership with the City of Surprise, the West Valley Arts Council and Ground Floor Artists for a 9/11 tribute art exhibit.
The inaugural Surprise Mayor’s Exhibit: A Tribute To Our Heroes, marks the 20th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11 and aims to reflect on how the heroes of this day have shaped, and continue to shape, our nation into one of support, togetherness, and collective endurance. Individual artists are invited to submit works thematically tied to the events of September 11, 2001 and/or works remembering and celebrating those who gave their lives through heroic acts.
The Mayor’s Exhibit will be juried by a panel of partners and community members, along with City of Surprise Mayor Skip Hall. Student submissions (ages 13-17) are free, and adult artist (18+) fees are $20-25. The deadline to apply is 11:59pm on July 30, 2021 and artists can submit up to three individual pieces for consideration. Entry details and requirements can be found on the West Valley Arts website.
