Arizona Council on Economic Educations and CTE make teaching taxes fun

Looking for engaging and creative ways to teach your students about taxes? Join the Arizona Council on Economic Education and the Arizona Department of Education’s Career and Technical Education staff to learn more about free resources and lessons that can be used to help your students understand taxes. There will be three sessions with each highlighting a different topic. Participants will be eligible for 1 hour of professional development credit for each session they attend. Sessions are open to students in grades 7th through 12th.
Session 1: Tic-Tac-Taxes
This session will focus on lessons that help students understand the reason for taxes and evaluate which goods and services are provided using taxes.

Session 2: Tax Time Scavenger Hunt
This session will focus on giving an overview of income taxes and the role that the IRS plays in the income tax process.

This session will focus on lessons that help students understand the basics of taxes such as what taxes are used for, how taxes are collected, and different types of taxes.
