Members of the Amphitheater School District’s Class of 2022 will be taking victory laps at their elementary and middle schools before officially graduating from high school in mid-May.
Students from Amphitheater High School, Canyon del Oro High School and Ironwood Ridge High School will wear their gaps and gowns and walk the halls of their alma maters to celebrate their completion of their diplomas and to inspire younger students to follow in their footsteps.
The last time the District held a Grad Walk was in 2019, when the Class of 2019 from Amphitheater High School was greeted at several schools with music, cheers and plenty of high-fives. The District is pleased to bring back and expand the Grad Walks this year.
“Grad Walks serve several important purposes,” said Amphitheater Superintendent Todd Jaeger. “First and foremost, they give our graduating seniors the chance to be celebrated at schools they attended and reconnect with former teachers. The walks also allow our graduates to serve as role models, to inspire younger children and show them that they, too, will one day be donning and cap and gown and earning their high school diplomas.”
Canyon del Oro High School’s Graduation Walk will be May 13, and students will visit Harelson Elementary, Donaldson Elementary, Mesa Verde Elementary and Cross Middle School.
Ironwood Ridge High School’s Graduation Walk will take place May 16. Students will visit Copper Creek Elementary, Painted Sky Elementary, Wilson K-8 and Coronado K-8.
Amphitheater High School will be holding its Graduation Walk on May 17, and students will visit Keeling Elementary, Holaway Elementary, Rio Vista Elementary, Prince Elementary, Walker Elementary, Nash Elementary, La Cima Middle School and Amphi Middle School.
