The Alhambra Elementary School District Governing Board approved the hiring of two new principals for the 2016-2017 school year on March 3, 2016. Mr. Raul Ruiz will be the principal of Andalucia Middle School, and Ms. Alana Ragland will be moving into the role of principal at Simpson School.

Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Arizona State University, and his Master’s degree in Education Leadership from Northern Arizona University.

Ms. Ragland has served the Alhambra Elementary School District for 26 years as a teacher, academic coach, and outreach coordinator. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Coe College, and her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. The Alhambra community is thrilled to welcome these two leaders into their new roles!

The Alhambra Elementary School District is located in central Phoenix and encompasses 13 square miles within the cities of Phoenix and Glendale. Alhambra serves nearly 13,500 students in preschool through eighth grades, 93 percent of which receive free or reduced-price food services, and nearly 26 percent are English language learners.
