“Alexander Hamilton: Immigrant, Patriot, Visionary,” a national traveling exhibition that explores the accomplishments of one of America’s most prominent founders, will be on display at Canyon Ridge School during our celebration of United States Constitution Day, on September 16, 2022. Members of the community are welcome to attend, and view student related projects, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Patriots from Arizona SAR, Liberty Ladies of Sun City West and Sun City Grand, Arizona DAR and Veterans of Foreign Wars, will serve as guides and presenters. Costumed student performers, representing an array of multicultural colonial figures, will interact with guests and younger learners. The Canyon Ridge Singers will also be offering a performance of selections from the hit Broadway musical, Hamilton.
The GLI exhibition, funded in part by the Rockefeller Foundation, examines Hamilton’s important role in the Revolutionary War and Founding period. More than any other founder, Hamilton foresaw the way we live now. In the Federalist Papers he advocated ratification of the Constitution and as treasury secretary, he oversaw the adoption of a national currency and norms and new policies for domestic and international trade.
The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History was founded in 1994. Increasingly national and international in scope, the Institute promotes the study and love of American History among students, scholars, and the general public. It supports academic research in schools, organizes seminars and enrichment programs for educators, and partners with school districts to provide resources and to implement Teaching American History grants.
Established in 2007, Canyon Ridge School is a Cognia STEM accredited campus in the Dysart Unified School District. We offer a 21st century education that highlights scientific inquiry, collaborative activities and cross-curricular projects. Our school also participates in numerous civic projects and partners with twenty patriotic organizations.
