2,008 Scottsdale Unified students will graduate

WHAT:              The countdown to graduation has begun for parents and seniors. On May 22nd, 2,008 students will graduate from Arcadia, Chaparral, Coronado, Desert Mountain and Saguaro high schools

 

WHO:               The graduating class of 2014 from Arcadia, Chaparral, Coronado, Desert Mountain and Saguaro High Schools

INFO:               Arcadia High School’s graduation is at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd at the Arcadia Football Field, 4703 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix 85018.

Special Guests include Governing Board Member Barbara Perleberg; Superintendent Dr. David J. Peterson; Dr. Dave McNeil, executive director of Elementary Education & Assessment; and Daniel O’Brien, chief financial officer. Student speakers include Karley McCauley, STUGO, Abdi Mohamed, Neil Cantillo, Gergey Mousa and Mara Georgeff.

Singers Matt Hahler, Chloe Tang and Brenna Teefy will perform “In My Life” by The Beatles.

The Arcadia Choral Ensemble will perform the “National Anthem” and Arcadia Strings and Band will perform “Pomp and Circumstance.” There will be a fireworks show at the conclusion of the graduation ceremony.

                        Chaparral High School’s graduation is at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd at the Wells Fargo Arena at Arizona State University, 600 E. Veterans Way, Tempe 85281.

Special guests include Governing Board President Bonnie Sneed; Associate Superintendent Dr. Jeff Thomas and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Pam Sitton.

The following students will speak: Alana Anderson, Lindsay Eaton, Leah Kaplan, Xavier Richmond and Eric Preshkin.

Coronado High School’s graduation is at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd at the Edward L. Anderson Stadium, 7501 E. Virginia Ave., Scottsdale 85257.

Special Guests include Governing Board Vice President Denny Brown; Assistant Superintendent Dr. Andi Fourlis; General Counsel Michelle Marshall; and Dr. Chris Thuman, executive director of Community Education.

                        Desert Mountain High School’s graduation is at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd at the Athletic Stadium, 12575 E. Via Linda, Scottsdale 85259.

Special guests include Governing Board Member Pam Kirby, who will also speak; Dr. Mitch von Gnechten, executive director of Secondary Education & Assessment; and Dr. Milissa Sackos, executive director of Student Services.

The Masters of Ceremonies are Lauren Lebowitz, Senior Class President and Genai Cavendar, Student Body President.

Teacher Adam Kohnen was selected by the senior class to speak.

Student Rachel Wallen’s speech is entitled “The Importance of a Dream.”

“I Lived” By OneRepublic will be performed by Nick Deak, Derek Barton and Amelia Parke.

Individuals attending graduation must have a ticket to enter.

 

Saguaro High School’s graduation is at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 22nd at the Saguaro Stadium, 6250 N. 82nd St., Scottsdale 85250.

Special guests include Governing Board Member George Jackson; Tom Clark, chief technology officer; and Clif McKenzie, executive director of K-12 Athletics.

The following students will speak: Alexandra Shangraw, Tre Hickem, Katie Alhadiff, Nickolas Meservey and Sara Brancati.

The senior Vocal Students will sing “I Live” by OneRepublic.
