It must be postmarked by Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
This program provides two outstanding Arizona high school juniors or seniors each with a $10,000 scholarship and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to meet our nation’s leaders. Winners will be chosen by a panel of prominent government representatives following a detailed civics exam and an interview with the panel.
School coordinators (typically history or government teachers, counselors or principals) will be asked to administer the qualifying exam within a tight window of time to ensure the integrity of the exam.
The following timeline will be observed:
Wednesday, Oct. 11: Applications must be postmarked on or before this date.
Tuesday, Oct. 17: Testing packets will be mailed.
Friday, Nov. 3: All testing materials are due (not postmarked!) at ADE.
Thursday, Nov. 9: Top 10 percent of Arizona test takers will be notified of finalist status.
Friday, Nov. 17: Finalists will be interviewed at 1535 W. Jefferson Street, Phoenix.
December: Winners will be notified.
March 3-10, 2018: Winners will spend one week in Washington, D.C.
Please share this amazing opportunity with qualified students by offering them the program brochure available on our website.

While sharing the U.S. Senate Youth Program with students, there is another opportunity they can sign up for, also due in October. While the U.S. Presidential Program does not offer scholarship money, it does offer a free trip and will look terrific on the student’s academic resume.
Thank you for your support of these unique student achievement programs. Please do not hesitate to email your questions to Patti.Hultstrand@azed.gov.
