It is the time of year when students get ready to return to school, but when you are from a lower-income family, it is difficult to make ends meet plus provide backpacks and school supplies.

Please consider donating supplies, or a monetary donation, to the Buckeye Super Heroes. For more information about the Super Heroes, visit www.facebook.com/buckeyesuperheroes.

Lower-income families that live in Buckeye, and in communities farther west, can participate in the annual community event called The Learning “Cause.” Your donation, big or small, will help provide backpacks, supplies and other back to school needs, to students in kindergarten through 12th grades.

We are also collecting children’s books. We are requesting new, or gently used, for all ages birth to young adult. If enough books are collected, there will be an area where students will be challenged to read 30-minutes a day and then will be able to pick a book to take home. Children birth through preschool will be given a bag with early childhood literacy activities and an age-appropriate book.

There are drop-off locations in many neighborhoods or you can bring donations to the Buckeye Family Resource Center at 210 S. 6th Street, Bldg. 700. For more information including a suggested list of supplies, visit www.besd33.org\communityresources\familyresourcecenter or call (623) 925-3911.
